Before helping your child, take a moment to:
- Notice your own feelings
- Take a few deep breaths
- Ground yourself in the present
Parenting is hard. Remind yourself:
- All children experience struggles
- Difficult emotions are normal
- You're doing your best
Build emotional intelligence by:
- Identifying feelings together ("You seem frustrated")
- Normalizing all emotions
